Police guarding outside Dalit Basti to avert any tension in the village.

The police have booked 13 persons for allegedly thrashing a Dalit and three members of his family at Dhulkot village of the district yesterday. The victim, Balbir Kumar, his wife Bimla, brother Ram Kishan and sister-in-law Shakuntala have been admitted to hospital in Hisar.
Sources said the accused wielding sticks barged into Balbir’s house and tried to take him away forcibly. When his family members intervened, they reportedly thrashed them all.The incident triggered tension between the two communities following which a police team was sent to the village. Deputy Superintendent of Police Vijay Pal said the situation was under control.The accused were reportedly infuriated as Balbir had chosen to contest from a general seat despite efforts by members of the dominant caste to elect the sarpanch unanimously.Deputy Superintendent of Police Vijay Pal said appropriate action would be taken against 13 accused — Ramkishan, Singharam, Surender Kumar, Pappu, Subhkarn, Krishan, Venod, Om Prakash, Sachin, Bagtu, Surajbhan and Krishan Kumar. All 13 accused belong to the the dominant Bishnoi, Rajput and Jat communities.
