The incessant rain for the second consecutive day has thrown normal life out of gear in Bhiwani and Dadri of the district.Water entered government buildings, schools and houses at colonies in low-lying areas today.Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar reportedly cancelled his visit to an event organised by the Punjabi Swabhiman Trust on Sunday due to the waterlogged venue.
The situation was worse at old bus stand, Hunuman gate colony, Amar Nagar, Shivnagar, New housing board, Jogiwala Mandir, Dadri gate, Jain Chowk, Hansi gate, Ghantaghar to Sarai Chopta, Denod gate, BTM chowk and the compound of the Civil Hospital here.The rainwater had entered a godown the Food Corporation of India (FCI) and the grain market causing the authorities to run for makeshift arrangements to save the stored stock.
Sajjan Singh, FCI officer, said the matter was reported to higher authorities for action.Residents faced traffic jams throughout the day. Irked over entering of water in their houses and the failure of district administration in helping them, residents of Balmiki colony protested against the state government and administration on roads.The protesters said the Weather Department had warned the administration of unusual rains, but the department did not employ pumping machines at low-lying areas.
Meanwhile, the sewerage system collapsed in Dadri on Monday and the rainwater accumulated on roads troubling the residents.Public Health Department Executive Engineer Rakesh Kumar said the department had employed motors to pump water out from low-lying areas.Residents of Jhojju Kalan village of the district faced a similar problem.
