CHARKHI DADRI, SEPTEMBER 20: Residents of Loharu subdivision under the banner of the Sarpanch Association and the Kisan Sangathan have convened a mahapanchayat at Singhani village for September 23 to raise their voice to remain in Bhiwani district instead of the newly carved Charkhi-Dadri. “We would not become a part of Charkhi-Dadri district under any circumstances”, said Loharu residents.Sources said 50 panchayats of neighbouring Jhajjar, Mahendragarh districts have given their consent to be a part of new Charkhi-Dadri district. At present it has 172 villages under its jurisdiction.Meanwhile, residents of Charkhi Dadri expect more development projects and job avenues once it starts functioning officially as a district.Kulwant Phogat, Bharatiya Janata Party legal cell in charge, said the formation of Charkhi Dadri as a district would take away the tag of backward from Dadri forever. “Dadri which used to be a district in Jind state had to struggle for around 20 years to get this tag,” he said.Parveen Ashawari, who kickstarted a signature campaign ‘Dadri for district’ long ago, said they expected increased flow of jobs to unemployed youth and investment worth crores coming in from the private and government sectors, boosting the local economy.
