Exposing the state government’s zero-tolerance approach towards corruption, Karnal MP Ashwani Kumar Chopra today alleged that corruption was still prevalent among some bureaucrats, MPs and MLAs and he would take up the issue with Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar.Chopra said this while talking to mediapersons on the sidelines of a function organised by the Punjabi Jagriti Manch here.Responding to a query on government’s anti-corruption agenda, he said: “Some officers are still corrupt, even some of the MPs and MLAs were also engaged in corruption. I would bring the matter to the notice of the Chief Minister soon.” On being asked about the names, Chopra said that he need not to name them in the public and their misdeeds would be exposed before the media at the right time.He said that it was quite tough to get time from Prime Minister Narendra Modi to bring the matter to his knowledge, but he would soon meet the Chief Minister. On barring the entry of Kurukshetra MP Raj Kumar Saini by khaps to Charkhi Dadri, he said that everybody had the freedom of speech in a democratic set up and Saini should have come despite opposition from the khaps.Dubbing the Punjabi community as hardworking, he said that he was on a mission to unite the Punjabi community in the state and it was for the first time that the power centre had been shifted from Rohtak, Hisar, Sirsa to Karnal.
